What it does
When this creature enters, target player creates a 1/1 white and black Inkling creature token with flying. Then if an opponent controls more creatures than you, this creature becomes prepared. (While it's prepared, you may cast a copy of its spell. Doing so unprepares it.)

Where it came from
Emeritus of Truce // Swords to Plowshares is a double-faced card released in the 2021 Secrets of Strixhaven drop, a limited-edition series within the Secret Lair line for Magic: The Gathering. This set was designed to celebrate the scholarly aesthetic of the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion, utilizing a specialized 'Mystical Archive' art treatment that draws inspiration from historical grimoires and illuminated manuscripts.
The card features artwork by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game known for his ethereal and painterly style. His design for this piece aimed to contrast the scholarly pursuit of peace, represented by the front face, with the iconic, pacifistic mechanics of the classic Swords to Plowshares card on the reverse. The set was met with appreciation from the player community for its cohesive academic visual language and high-quality artistic presentation.
