Eternal Witness

Eternal Witness was originally introduced in the 2004 set Fifth Dawn as a quintessential green creature capable of returning any card from a graveyard to a player's hand. Its utility made it a staple in various formats, leading to its inclusion in the 2022 Double Masters set, which focused on reprinting powerful cards with upgraded aesthetics. This iteration features art by Zack Stella, who opted for a serene, ethereal portrayal that emphasizes the character's role as a bridge between the living and the past.

The Double Masters 2022 version was designed to appeal to both competitive players and collectors, offering a refined visual identity that contrasts with the card's original, more visceral appearance. Stella’s illustration captures a sense of timeless wisdom, moving away from the tribal aesthetic of the original card toward a more refined, painterly style. It has been well-received for maintaining the functional clarity of the original design while providing a sophisticated visual refresh suitable for the high-end nature of the Double Masters reprint line.
