Event Horizon

Event Horizon was released as part of the Planechase promotional series, specifically within the Black Lotus Unknown Planechase set. Designed as a supplemental experience for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, the Planechase format introduced oversized cards that represent the various shifting landscapes of the multiverse. This specific card was intended to capture the volatile and unpredictable nature of interplanar travel, reflecting the thematic focus on cosmic anomalies found within the game's broader lore.

The artwork for this piece was commissioned to evoke a sense of deep-space isolation and structural instability. Consistent with the aesthetic established by the game’s creative team, the design utilizes high-contrast visuals to emphasize the card's function as a game-altering engine. Upon release, the set was received as a niche expansion for dedicated players looking to introduce chaos and strategic depth to casual multiplayer formats, standing out as a unique entry in the long history of the game's supplemental card designs.
