Where it came from
Fiery Temper was originally introduced in the Torment expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2002. It was designed as an efficient burn spell that incentivized discard strategies, a hallmark mechanic for the red color identity. The card gained significant notoriety for its synergy with madness, allowing players to cast it for its reduced cost even when discarded from their hand, which provided a powerful tempo advantage during its original tournament tenure.
The Innistrad Remastered printing, collector number 154, reimagines this classic effect within the gothic-horror aesthetic of the Innistrad setting. This version utilizes updated art that aligns with the set's haunting tone, maintaining the functional core of the original card while integrating it into a draft environment curated for nostalgic appeal and thematic cohesion. It remains a staple for players who favor aggressive, resource-efficient strategies in red decks.
