Where it came from
Fiery Temper was originally printed in the Odyssey set in 2001, designed as a classic red burn spell with an added madness mechanic. This specific version, numbered 62 in the Time Spiral Timeshifted subset, was released in 2006 as a functional reprint that utilized the original card's art and frame, serving as a nostalgic callback to the early 2000s era of Magic: The Gathering.
The card's art was created by Wayne Reynolds, a long-time illustrator for the franchise known for his dynamic, action-oriented style. By choosing to include this card in the Timeshifted set, the design team aimed to highlight iconic cards from the game’s history, providing players with a visually striking, purple-symbol version of a card that remained a staple in aggressive red decks for years due to its efficient cost and synergy with discard outlets.
