Provenance

Where it came from

Foresee was originally introduced in the Future Sight expansion in 2007, designed to explore unconventional card mechanics and provide a glimpse into potential futures for Magic: The Gathering. It returned as a reprint in the Magic 2011 core set, which sought to refine the game's identity by balancing nostalgia with strategic depth. The card represents the blue color's focus on information advantage, allowing players to manipulate the top of their library and gain card advantage.

The artwork for the Magic 2011 printing was created by Cyril Van Der Haegen. His illustration captures the essence of precognition and mental clarity, depicting a mystical, ethereal atmosphere that aligns with the card's function of drawing cards and scrying. Upon its release in the core set, it was received as a solid utility card in limited formats and casual play, praised for its straightforward yet impactful contribution to tempo-based blue strategies.
