Gisa and Geralf

Gisa and Geralf first appeared in the Eldritch Moon expansion of Magic: The Gathering, introduced as legendary sibling necromancers locked in an eternal, macabre rivalry. The characters are central to the lore of the gothic horror plane of Innistrad, where Gisa commands armies of ghouls and Geralf specializes in stitched-together flesh monstrosities. The card was reimagined for the Innistrad Remastered set, which curates the most iconic and thematic cards from the plane's history to provide a cohesive draft experience.

The original illustration for the characters was created by Karla Ortiz, who sought to capture the dysfunctional yet inseparable nature of the siblings through their distinct aesthetic styles. Gisa is typically depicted with erratic energy and dark magic, contrasting with Geralf's more clinical, surgical approach to undeath. The card has been widely praised by players for its flavorful design that mechanically encourages graveyard-based synergy, effectively translating the lore of the pair into a compelling strategic engine.
