What it does
At the beginning of your end step, if you gained 3 or more life this turn, create a 2/2 white Griffin creature token with flying.
When griffins started nesting atop the northern tower, the castellan worried they'd be a nuisance. Instead, they took the entire castle under their protection.

Where it came from
Griffin Aerie was released in the Core Set 2021 for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Designed as an enchantment, it reflects the game's long-standing tradition of tribal synergy, specifically focusing on the iconic Griffin creature type. The card provides a mechanical incentive for players to gain life, rewarding them with the creation of flying tokens, which aligns with the white mana color identity of supporting and protecting creatures.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, known for his ethereal and high-fantasy style within the game. Voss intended to capture the grandeur and protective nature of the creatures as they descend from their nesting heights. Upon release, it became a notable piece for casual and Commander players who focus on life-gain strategies, though its competitive impact remained relatively niche compared to other support cards in the set.
