Where it came from
Griffin Aerie was originally introduced in the Core Set 2021 as a rare enchantment designed to reward players for gaining life by generating flying creature tokens. Within the context of Magic: The Gathering, it serves as a cornerstone for lifegain-themed archetypes, fitting into a long tradition of cards that turn defensive resources into aggressive board presence.
The Enchanting Tales version, released as part of the Wilds of Eldraine set, features specialized 'storybook' art and a unique frame treatment intended to evoke the high-fantasy, fairytale aesthetic of the plane of Eldraine. This particular printing was included as a bonus sheet card, curated to celebrate the enchantment-heavy themes of the set while providing players with stylized, collectible versions of iconic cards from throughout the game's history.
