Isshin, Two Heavens as One // Isshin, Two Heavens as One

Isshin, Two Heavens as One was released in 2022 as part of the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Art Series. This specific card represents the art-focused variant of the legendary creature first introduced in the main set, which reimagined the classic Japanese-inspired plane of Kamigawa through a futuristic, cyberpunk-inflected lens. The series was designed to showcase the vivid illustrations commissioned for the expansion, stripping away standard game text to highlight the work of the artists who defined the set's aesthetic.

The illustration for Isshin was created by artist Fajareka Setiawan, who utilized a bold, high-contrast style to depict the character as a dual-wielding warrior. The design draws heavily from the set’s thematic fusion of traditional samurai motifs and neon-drenched technology. Upon release, the piece was well-received by collectors for its striking composition and its role in broadening the visual identity of the Kamigawa plane, serving as a standout example of the franchise's commitment to diverse artistic styles.
