Where it came from
Jadzi, Steward of Fate // Oracle's Gift was released in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set Strixhaven: School of Mages, specifically appearing as part of the Mystical Archive subset. The card represents a faculty member of Prismari College, the school of elemental arts at Strixhaven University. This double-faced card design was utilized throughout the set to showcase the duality of the mages, pairing a powerful creature with a corresponding sorcery spell to emphasize the versatility of the institution's curriculum.
The artwork for the card was created by illustrative artist Magali Villeneuve, known for her intricate fantasy character designs. Villeneuve focused on capturing Jadzi's academic authority and connection to the arcane forces of the university. The card was received favorably by players who utilize 'spellslinger' archetypes, as it offers a repeatable engine for deck manipulation and mana ramp, solidifying its place as a staple in Commander formats where the unique mechanics of double-faced cards are highly valued.
