What it does
Whenever you attack, target attacking creature can't be blocked this turn. It connives. Then choose another attacking creature with lesser power. That creature gains double strike until end of turn. (To have a creature connive, draw a card, then discard a card. If you discarded a nonland card, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature.)

Where it came from
Kamiz, Obscura Oculus was released in 2022 as part of the Streets of New Capenna Commander set. The character serves as the guild leader of the Obscura, a faction within the Art Deco-inspired metropolis of New Capenna that functions as a secretive syndicate of information brokers and illusionists. Mechanically, the card was designed to embody the themes of espionage and tactical manipulation, utilizing mechanics like connive to represent the faction's focus on gathering intelligence and gaining an edge over opponents.
The card was illustrated by artist Anna Christenson, who depicted Kamiz in a style consistent with the plane's high-fashion, noir-influenced aesthetic. The design emphasizes a sense of watchful authority, capturing the character’s role as the master of the Obscura’s influence. Upon release, the card was well-received by players for its synergy with aggressive, evasion-based strategies, making it a popular choice for those interested in the blue-black-white color identity within the Commander format.
