Where it came from
Lightning Greaves first debuted in the 2003 Mirrodin expansion, envisioned by Wizards of the Coast as a staple equipment card to provide both haste and shroud for a single creature. The design intent was to create a cost-efficient way to protect key engines on the battlefield, making it a fixture in multiplayer formats where interaction is frequent and permanent removal is common.
This specific version, released as part of the Commander 2020 product line, features the iconic original illustration by Christopher Rush. While the card has been reprinted across numerous sets and premium editions, this Commander 2020 iteration remains a reliable functional copy, widely utilized by players to bolster deck resiliency without the need for high-rarity or alternate-art variants.
