Where it came from
Lightning Greaves first debuted in the 2003 expansion set Mirrodin, designed as a powerful piece of Equipment to grant both haste and shroud to a creature. The card quickly became a staple in the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem due to its low mana cost and its efficiency in protecting key permanents from targeted removal while enabling immediate aggression.
This specific iteration from the Commander 2015 set features artwork by Jeremy Jarvis, who updated the visual aesthetic to align with the metallic, gear-heavy themes of the Mirrodin plane. Since its inclusion in the Commander 2015 preconstructed decks, this version has been widely circulated among players, prized for its functional role as an essential utility card in the multiplayer Commander format.
