Living Wish

Living Wish was originally printed as a rare card in the 2002 Judgment expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This specific version originates from the 2002 World Championship Decks, a product line released by Wizards of the Coast that featured exact, non-tournament-legal replicas of the decks used by the top players at the annual World Championship event. This particular card was included in the deck piloted by Brian Kibler, a prominent figure in competitive play who utilized the card's ability to pull creatures or lands from the sideboard to adapt to changing game states.

The card was illustrated by Scott M. Fischer, whose work is characterized by a distinctive, painterly style that captures the ethereal nature of the game's high-fantasy setting. Within the competitive community, the 'Wish' cycle was received as a powerful design innovation that rewarded skilled players for deep strategic planning regarding their sideboards. By allowing players to access cards from outside their main deck, Living Wish fundamentally changed deck-building conventions and remained a staple utility card in various competitive formats for years following its release.
