This specific version originates from the 1997 Pro Tour Collector Set, a box set designed to provide players with replicas of the top-performing decks from the professional circuit that year. These cards are distinct from standard releases, featuring gold-bordered backs and signatures on the face to ensure they remained ineligible for use in sanctioned tournament play.

The card’s illustration was originally commissioned from Anson Maddocks for the Alpha set. His design captured the quintessential nature of the forest-dwelling elf, emphasizing a grounded, organic aesthetic that established the visual identity for green-aligned creatures in the game.
