What it does
If a red or artifact source you control would deal damage to an opponent or a permanent an opponent controls, it deals that much damage plus 1 instead.
First the automatons reinforced depleted squads. Then they replaced them entirely.

Where it came from
Mechanized Warfare was originally released in the 2022 expansion set The Brothers' War, designed for Magic: The Gathering to reflect the mechanical, industrial aesthetic of the game's iconic lore. This particular variant, numbered 139s, is a promotional version of the card, featuring unique border treatments or holographic stamps that distinguish it from the standard draft-booster release. The card's design focus centers on artifact synergy and red-aligned damage scaling, fitting into the set's narrative of total war between the brothers Urza and Mishra.
The art and mechanics were developed by Wizards of the Coast to emphasize the gritty, artifact-heavy environment of Dominaria’s past. Mechanized Warfare serves as a thematic piece that rewards players for utilizing small, aggressive robotic creatures, aligning with the mechanical themes established throughout the set. Upon its debut, the card was received as a solid utility piece for Commander and artifact-focused decks, praised by the community for its efficient design and its ability to act as an effective damage multiplier for aggressive red strategies.
