Mentor of the Meek

Mentor of the Meek was originally introduced in the Innistrad set in 2011, designed as a white creature that provides card advantage based on the size of other creatures entering the battlefield. This specific version was reprinted in the Commander 2016 release, a set centered around four-color legendary creatures and strategic multiplayer gameplay. The inclusion of this card in Commander 2016 provided players with a reliable utility engine, fitting well into the theme of creature-based decks that rely on steady resource replenishment during the mid-to-late stages of a game.

The artwork for this card was illustrated by Greg Staples, who captured the image of a seasoned, scholarly figure offering guidance to smaller spirits or beings. Staples aimed to evoke a sense of mentorship and protective wisdom, contrasting the small, fragile nature of the creatures being empowered with the dignified, studious demeanor of the Mentor. The card has been well received by the player community over the years for its consistent utility in white-aligned decks, maintaining its status as a staple in the Commander format.
