Mind Twist was first released in 1993 as part of the Alpha and Beta sets, the inaugural printings of Magic: The Gathering. As a card that forced opponents to discard cards at random for a variable mana cost, it quickly established itself as one of the most powerful and controversial spells in the game’s early history, eventually leading to its restriction or banning in several competitive formats.
The Unlimited Edition, released shortly after, maintained the original artwork by Christopher Rush.
