Modified

The Modified card, bearing collector number 45, originated as a front card for the Foundations Jumpstart product line for Magic: The Gathering, released in late 2024. These cards were designed to function as identifiers for specific Jumpstart theme packs, allowing players to quickly distinguish between different archetypes when shuffling two packs together for a game. Unlike standard gameplay cards, these front cards serve a purely functional role, signaling the mechanical theme of the deck to the player.

The aesthetic of the Foundations Jumpstart series was crafted to align with the overarching identity of the Magic: The Gathering Foundations set, which aims to provide a stable, evergreen baseline for players of all experience levels. The art direction emphasizes clarity and the core identity of the 'Modified' theme, which focuses on creatures that have been augmented by Auras, Equipment, or +1/+1 counters. By stripping away standard border elements in favor of a bold, theme-centric presentation, the designers ensured that the cards stand out effectively during the setup phase of a Jumpstart session.
