Myr

The Myr token was produced for the 2018 Magic: The Gathering set Battlebond, a release specifically designed for Two-Headed Giant, a team-based multiplayer format. In this set, players participate in a tournament-style spectacle hosted on the plane of Kylem, a world obsessed with athletic competition and combat. These tokens serve as essential mechanical aids for cards like Myr Propagator, which create copies of the metallic, construct-like creatures native to the Mirrodin plane but repurposed here for the arena’s crowd-pleasing battles.

The artwork was commissioned from illustrator Ryan Pancoast, known for his ability to render high-fantasy artifacts with tactile, grounded detail. Pancoast’s design captures the Myr’s characteristic functional, insectoid aesthetic, emphasizing the smooth, manufactured surfaces and distinct lack of organic features that define the creature type. The design maintains the visual language of Myr established in earlier Mirrodin sets, ensuring it remains recognizable as a utility piece while fitting the thematic tone of an arena-focused expansion.
