Nissa of Shadowed Boughs // Nissa of Shadowed Boughs

Nissa of Shadowed Boughs is a prominent card from the Zendikar Rising Art Series, a collection released by Wizards of the Coast in 2020. This specific line of cards was designed to showcase the intricate, borderless landscape and character illustrations from the Zendikar Rising set, providing collectors with high-quality, frame-free versions of the game's most iconic imagery. The initiative aimed to elevate the aesthetic appeal of the trading card game by highlighting the work of individual artists outside of the standard gameplay layout.

The character Nissa Revane, a powerful elf planeswalker, is a central figure in the lore of Zendikar. This particular depiction was illustrated by artist Anna Steinbauer, who utilized a lush, dark color palette to emphasize Nissa's connection to the corrupted and overgrown environments of the plane. Upon its release, the card was well-received by fans of the series for its ethereal composition and the high-fidelity printing process used to accentuate the fine details of Steinbauer's digital painting technique.
