Where it came from

Ovinize was originally released in the 2007 set Planar Chaos, a set defined by its color-shifted mechanics that explored alternate timelines within the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. It was designed as a blue-shifted version of traditional green or white creature-polymorph effects, intentionally subverting the color pie by allowing a blue card to permanently weaken a creature's power and toughness while stripping away its abilities.
