Plagiarize

Plagiarize was originally printed in the Urza's Destiny expansion in 1999 and was later reprinted in the Ninth Edition core set in 2005. As an instant-speed rare, the card was designed to facilitate strategic disruption by allowing a player to look at an opponent's hand and then copy the capabilities of their spells for the remainder of the turn. This mechanics-heavy approach reflected the broader design philosophy of the era, which prioritized complex interactions and high-impact sideboard options in competitive play.

The artwork for the Ninth Edition release was provided by Jeremy Jarvis, a prominent illustrator who would later become a significant figure in the creative direction of the game. Jarvis opted for a visual style that emphasizes the act of intellectual theft, utilizing sharp, deliberate line work and a somber color palette to match the card's function.
