Punchcard // Punchcard

The Punchcard token was released in 2020 as part of the ancillary set accompanying the Commander 2020 decks. Designed as a utility piece for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, it serves as a physical representation of game states or player-created counters rather than a traditional creature token. Its inclusion in the set reflects Wizards of the Coast's ongoing effort to provide players with specialized accessories that facilitate complex interactions during multiplayer matches.

The visual design of the Punchcard follows the aesthetic established for the Commander 2020 tokens, focusing on functional clarity and thematic consistency with the associated decks. Created by the internal art team at Wizards of the Coast, the card employs a minimalist approach to iconography, allowing players to mark or track game metrics manually. Upon its release, the card was received as a practical tool for the Commander format's increasingly dense board states, favored by players who prefer physical tracking methods over digital alternatives.
