Reality Shaping

Reality Shaping was released as part of the Planechase 2012 set, a supplemental product designed by Wizards of the Coast to expand the chaotic, multi-dimensional variant format first introduced in 2009. The card represents the unstable nature of the Blind Eternities, the space between planes in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, and serves as a mechanical utility card intended to manipulate the deck-thinning and resource-acceleration aspects of the game.

The card features illustration by Kev Walker, a prominent and long-standing contributor to the game's visual identity. Walker’s aesthetic often emphasizes visceral, high-fantasy environments, and for this piece, he utilized a palette of shifting purples and ethereal energies to convey the concept of matter being molded by planar forces. Upon its release, the card was noted by players for its tactical efficiency within the Planechase format, providing a structured way to navigate the unpredictability of the game's unique planar deck mechanics.
