Where it came from
Reality Shift was originally printed in the Fate Reforged expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2015. It represents the Ugin-aligned magic used to alter timelines, specifically showing the moment a creature is exiled and replaced by a manifest token. This card became a staple in the Blue color identity within the Commander format due to its rare ability for the color to provide targeted creature removal.
The version from the 2023 Commander Masters set features updated framing consistent with the reprint-heavy supplementary release. The design focuses on the visual representation of shifting spectral energies, a thematic hallmark of the Tarkir block's time-travel narrative. It is widely regarded by players as a highly efficient utility spell for decks lacking black or white removal options.
