Reality Shift

Reality Shift was first released as part of the Ugin's Fate promotional set in early 2015. These cards were distributed through Wizards of the Coast's store-level programs to commemorate the return of Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, to the game's evolving storyline. The set functioned as a bridge between the Fate Reforged expansion and the broader narrative arc involving the transformation of the plane of Tarkir.

The card's art was illustrated by Daarken, who leaned into the surreal, planar-altering theme inherent to the spell's mechanical effect. The design features a visual distortion effect intended to capture the instability of reality as the spell resolves. It was received as a functional and flavorful addition to the blue color pie, specifically valued for its ability to provide a color-appropriate answer to creatures while maintaining the chaotic, uncertain nature of blue's interactions.
