Reality Shift

Reality Shift was first introduced in the Fate Reforged expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2015, designed as a flavor-rich way for blue decks to interact with creatures by morphing them into manifested tokens. The card represents a pivotal moment in the plane of Tarkir's timeline, where the manifestation of past realities replaces current ones, a concept brought to life by the art of Chase Stone. Stone's illustration emphasizes the ethereal, reality-warping nature of the spell, capturing a subject mid-transformation with a focus on fluid, magical energy that has made it a favorite among players seeking utility and thematic depth.

This specific printing comes from the Commander 2019 supplemental set, which featured preconstructed decks centered around complex mechanics and returning favorites. Reality Shift was selected for inclusion in this set to provide the blue-aligned decks with reliable creature removal, a rarity for the color in the game's broader ecosystem. Its inclusion was well-received by the community for its efficiency, allowing it to become a staple in many Commander formats and cementing its status as one of the most effective non-destructive removal spells available to blue mages.
