Where it came from
Resistance Squad was released in 2022 as part of the Innistrad: Double Feature set, a curated compilation that combined cards from the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow expansions. This specific iteration was designed to showcase a unique aesthetic, utilizing a silver-screen, black-and-white treatment that draws inspiration from classic monochromatic horror films to complement the gothic atmosphere of the Innistrad plane.
The card features artwork by Wisnu Tan, who captured the resolute spirit of the human defenders within the setting's narrative. As a mechanical component of the Human tribal archetype, the card was intended to provide card advantage through its 'coven' ability, reflecting the cooperative nature of the resistance forces. The set received significant attention from collectors due to its distinctive visual style and the limited, high-contrast printing process used to differentiate these cards from their standard-release counterparts.
