Provenance

Where it came from

Sarkhan's Triumph was released in the 2015 Magic: The Gathering set Dragons of Tarkir, serving as a thematic centerpiece for the block's focus on the Planeswalker Sarkhan Vol. The card was designed to mechanically represent the character's journey through time and his success in altering the fate of his home plane, Tarkir, by facilitating the return of dragons to the world.

The card features illustration by Tyler Jacobson, who was tasked with capturing the moment of Sarkhan's pivotal intervention. The artwork emphasizes the draconic scale and the triumphant energy of the narrative shift, aligning with the set's high-fantasy aesthetic. It was received by players as a functional utility spell for dragon-focused tribal decks, praised for its ability to tutor specific cards while reinforcing the flavor of the set's draconic revival.
