Where it came from
Season of the Bold was released in 2024 as part of the Bloomburrow set for Magic: The Gathering. The card design highlights the set's central theme of an anthropomorphic woodland realm, where small creatures take on heroic roles in a high-fantasy world. This specific promotional variant features unique border treatments intended to distinguish it from the standard card set, emphasizing the whimsical, storybook-inspired aesthetic that defines the Bloomburrow release.
The art and mechanical design for this card were developed by the Wizards of the Coast creative team to evoke a sense of seasonal transformation and community strength. As a promotional item, it was primarily distributed through local game store events and tournament kits, serving as an incentive for community engagement. It was received positively by players for its thematic resonance and its utility within the specific creature-focused archetypes supported by the set.
