What it does
Council's dilemma — Starting with you, each player votes for wild or free. Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card for each wild vote. Put those creature cards onto the battlefield, then shuffle the rest into your library. You may put a permanent card from your hand onto the battlefield for each free vote.

Where it came from
Selvala's Stampede was introduced as part of the Commander 2016 release, specifically appearing in the Entropic Uprising preconstructed deck. The card is designed to mechanically reflect the chaotic, nature-driven philosophy of the character Selvala, a legendary green-aligned scout from the plane of Fiora. It provides players with a choice between drawing cards or putting permanents onto the battlefield, embodying the unpredictable and expansive style of play characteristic of green Commander strategies.
The artwork was created by illustrator Matt Stewart, who sought to capture the overwhelming kinetic energy of a stampede led by Selvala. Stewart’s approach emphasizes the scale and momentum of the creatures involved, aligning with the card's intent to shift the board state rapidly in the player's favor. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the Commander community for its versatility and its ability to provide significant value in multiplayer games where board impact is essential.
