Where it came from
The Semblance Anvil was originally introduced in the 2004 Mirrodin expansion as a rare artifact designed to facilitate combo-centric playstyles by reducing the casting cost of spells. It represents the fusion of organic and inorganic material central to the Mirrodin plane's aesthetic, intended to provide players with a strategic engine for mana efficiency.
This specific version, numbered 115z, appeared in the 2022 The Brothers' War Retro Artifacts subset. It features a modernized aesthetic update that mimics the visual style of early 1990s trading card designs, serving as a nostalgic nod to the game's original era. The design choice was well-received by collectors who appreciate the juxtaposition of classic graphic layouts with contemporary card power levels.
