Where it came from
Shared Summons was released in 2019 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2020. This set was designed to act as an accessible entry point for new players while still providing meaningful utility for experienced deck builders. The card, a green sorcery, reflects the set's focus on creature-based synergy, allowing players to search their library for two creatures with different names to bolster their board state.
The artwork for the card was created by artist Igor Kieryluk, who is well known for his contributions to the game's aesthetic identity. His illustration captures the essence of the spell by depicting a gathering of creatures emerging from a mystical rift, a visual representation of the 'summoning' mechanic. Upon release, the card was received as a solid tool for Commander format players looking for consistent tutor effects, favored for its ability to pull diverse threats from a deck.
