Where it came from
Sigil of the Empty Throne was first introduced in the Alara block and later featured in the Planechase 2012 release. The card serves as a powerful enchantment designed to reward players who focus their strategy on the enchantment card type, creating 4/4 Angel creature tokens whenever a non-creature enchantment is cast. This mechanical identity made it a cornerstone for white-based enchantment decks in Commander and casual formats.
The artwork for this version was illustrated by Jason Chan, who provided a regal and ethereal depiction of the sigil. His design aesthetic focuses on high-fantasy imagery, emphasizing the divine and celestial nature of the card's effect. The card has been well-regarded by players for its ability to stabilize the board state in multiplayer games, remaining a staple inclusion in enchantment-themed decks since its debut.
