Where it came from
Sisay, Weatherlight Captain was originally introduced in the Modern Horizons set as a legendary creature representing the heroic leader of the Weatherlight crew. This specific version debuted as part of a Secret Lair drop, a series of curated, limited-release card collections featuring unique artistic reinterpretations that deviate from standard Magic: The Gathering aesthetic norms.
The artwork for this particular release employs a distinct stylistic approach intended to highlight the character's narrative importance and leadership. By presenting the captain in a new visual format, the design team aimed to appeal to players who favor premium, aesthetically driven card variants. Upon release, this iteration was well-received by collectors who appreciate thematic diversity and the infusion of specialized illustrative talent into the game’s existing lore.
