What it does

Vigilance

At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may pay 1 generic mana. When you do, create a Sorcerer Role token attached to target creature you control. (If you control another Role on it, put that one into the graveyard. Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and has "Whenever this creature attacks, scry 1.")

Provenance

Where it came from

The Spellbook Vendor card was released as part of the Wilds of Eldraine set in 2023, drawing on the expansion's core theme of fairy-tale whimsy and high-fantasy enchantment. Designed to fit the set's unique narrative of a kingdom trapped in a slumbering curse, this card exemplifies the vendor archetype, serving as a functional piece that facilitates card draw and resource management within the game's mechanics.

The illustration was crafted to evoke the classic aesthetic of a storybook merchant, focusing on soft, magical lighting and detailed attire that aligns with the whimsical yet slightly mysterious tone of the Eldraine plane. It was released as a promotional version to offer players a distinct visual variant, garnering appreciation from the community for its thematic cohesion and its utility in limited formats.
