Where it came from
Storrev, Devkarin Lich was released as part of the War of the Spark set in 2019, specifically appearing as a promotional card. The character represents a powerful Golgari elf lich within the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, serving as a leader for the Devkarin sect of the Golgari Swarm on the plane of Ravnica. This specific version features unique promotional foiling or distribution, making it a sought-after iteration for collectors focused on the Ravnica narrative arc.
The card was illustrated by Daarken, a frequent contributor to the Magic: The Gathering franchise known for his dark and visceral aesthetic. His design for Storrev emphasizes the character's status as a decaying yet commanding undead figure, utilizing the signature green and black color palette of the Golgari guild. Upon release, the card was received as a functional tool for Commander players, appreciated for its ability to recur permanents from the graveyard, which aligns perfectly with the mechanical identity of its guild.
