Where it came from
Temporary Truce was released as part of Mystery Booster 2, a product designed by Wizards of the Coast to celebrate the vast history of Magic: The Gathering. The set is notable for including reprints from throughout the game's lifespan, often featuring the original card frames or special playtest designs that highlight the evolution of card mechanics and the experimental nature of the design team.
The card itself features mechanics characteristic of white-aligned political or group-hug effects, intended to stall aggression and offer resources to all players at the table. Its inclusion in Mystery Booster 2 reflects the set's broader goal of providing a chaotic, nostalgic, and varied draft experience that highlights unconventional cards that might not otherwise see print in modern standard-legal sets.
