Where it came from
Tempt with Discovery was first released in the Commander 2016 expansion, a set designed to expand the multiplayer format by introducing four-color legendary creatures and unique political mechanics. The card was specifically crafted to encourage table interaction, leveraging the 'tempting offer' keyword to force a social contract where all players at the table must decide whether to contribute to the caster's advantage in exchange for a similar benefit for themselves.
The artwork for the card was created by Svetlin Velinov, a veteran illustrator in the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem known for his clean, expressive style. Velinov's depiction of a lush, expansive landscape being offered up to explorers captures the card's theme of growth and temptation, grounding the mechanical risk-reward tension in a visually inviting scene that became a staple for green-based ramp strategies in the Commander format.
