Where it came from
The Keeper of Favorite Cards, cataloged as RW90a, belongs to a series of promotional trading cards released as part of an obscure event set. These cards were primarily distributed as commemorative items for event attendees, serving as a conceptual bridge between traditional gaming memorabilia and artistic keepsakes. The set lacks a widely documented commercial history, functioning instead as a niche artifact within the broader hobbyist space, emphasizing the personal act of curating one's own collection.
The design aesthetic for the series leans into minimalist illustration, focusing on the character as an idealized steward of personal archives. While the specific artist remains uncredited in public catalogs, the visual style suggests an attempt to evoke nostalgia for classic card design conventions while maintaining a modern, clean presentation. It was generally received as a thoughtful, low-profile addition to the event's promotional merchandise, valued by collectors more for its rarity and theme than for traditional competitive game utility.
