Where it came from
The Keeper of Favorite Cards, cataloged as RW90b, is a card that emerged from a series of promotional releases often associated with ephemeral hobby events rather than a mainstream commercial trading card line. The design focuses on minimalist, evocative portraiture, a stylistic choice intended to emphasize the personal nature of card collecting and the sentimental value placed on the items housed within a collection.
The illustrative direction reflects a move toward narrative-driven card art, where the depicted figure acts as a guardian of the viewer's own interests. Because this item was distributed through limited event channels, it has gained a quiet reputation among enthusiasts who favor pieces that prioritize artistic concept over competitive game utility. It is widely viewed by collectors as a memento of the community-driven aspect of the hobby.
