Where it came from
The Magic Mirror was released as part of the Throne of Eldraine set in late 2019, a Magic: The Gathering expansion heavily inspired by Arthurian legend and classic fairy tales. This specific version is a non-foil promo card, which was distributed through promotional channels such as Wizards Play Network events to highlight the set's thematic focus on legendary artifacts and high-fantasy storytelling.
The card was illustrated by the artist Johannes Voss, who utilized a whimsical yet ornate visual style to capture the mirror’s magical nature. The design emphasizes a reflective, ethereal quality that echoes the card's mechanical ability to accumulate charge counters, ultimately allowing players to draw significant cards. It was well-received by the player community for its evocative art and its utility in control-focused deck archetypes.
