Where it came from
Three Tree City was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Bloomburrow. Set within the whimsical, woodland-themed plane of Bloomburrow, the card represents a legendary location central to the anthropomorphic animal inhabitants of the world. It was designed to provide a powerful utility land specifically tailored to tribal-focused decks, drawing inspiration from the setting's core narrative of small creatures banding together to overcome greater threats.
The card’s illustration was created by artist Colin Boyer, who utilized a lush, storybook aesthetic to align with the set’s cozy and pastoral art direction. The design emphasizes the scale and communal spirit of the setting, depicting a massive tree acting as a refuge for the local fauna. Upon its introduction, the card was widely received by the player community for its efficient design and its significant impact on competitive deck-building formats.
