Where it came from
Three Tree City was released in 2024 as part of the Bloomburrow expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set is notable for its departure from standard fantasy tropes, featuring a world inhabited entirely by anthropomorphic animals. This specific card represents the central hub of the valley’s communal life, reflecting the set’s focus on the themes of gathering, harvest, and the cozy, pastoral aesthetic characteristic of the plane.
The art was created by illustrator Alayna Danner, who rendered the location with a focus on organic, lush textures that emphasize the card's mechanical function as a land that scales with the number of creatures a player controls. Within the competitive landscape of the game, the card was received as a powerful utility land, quickly becoming a staple in tribal-focused decks due to its ability to generate significant amounts of mana in synergy with the set’s creature-heavy design philosophy.
