Provenance

Where it came from

Tidings was released as a promotional card through the Magic Player Rewards program in 2008. The program was designed by Wizards of the Coast to encourage tournament play and reward loyal participants by distributing exclusive, often alternate-art versions of existing cards to those who met specific play frequency milestones throughout the year.

This particular version of the card features unique, full-art illustration by the artist Jim Murray. His work for the set leaned into a sophisticated, painterly aesthetic that distinguished the promotional release from the standard core set version. The card was well-received by players at the time for its functional utility in control decks and remains a favored piece among collectors who specialize in high-quality promotional foils.
