Where it came from
Treasure Mage was originally printed in the 2011 Magic: The Gathering set Mirrodin Besieged, designed by the Wizards of the Coast development team to support artifact-heavy strategies in the Scars of Mirrodin block. The card serves as a specialized tutor, allowing players to search their library for high-cost artifacts, reflecting the set's thematic focus on the metallic, resource-driven world of New Phyrexia.
This specific iteration, a DCI Promo distributed as part of a Friday Night Magic event, features unique borderless art by artist Igor Kieryluk. Kieryluk’s illustration emphasizes the mage’s mechanical aesthetic and affinity for artifacts, providing a visually distinct alternative to the standard release that became a favored choice for players looking to customize their decks with premium, tournament-distributed cards.
