Treefolk

The Treefolk token, collector number 30, was released in 2022 as part of the Magic: The Gathering supplementary set Streets of New Capenna Commander. These tokens were designed to serve as physical representations of creature effects generated during gameplay, specifically tied to cards within the set that produce Treefolk creatures. Like other tokens in this release, it was crafted to reflect the thematic aesthetic of the set's unique, art-deco-inspired urban landscape, integrating organic forms with the harsh architectural geometry typical of the plane of New Capenna.

The artwork was commissioned from illustrator Filip Burburan, who has contributed extensively to the Magic: The Gathering visual identity. Burburan approached the design by blending the traditional fantasy tropes of a wooden, arboreal guardian with the specific stylistic constraints required for the New Capenna Commander series. The result is a piece that prioritizes clarity for players on the battlefield while maintaining the high production values and distinct artistic flair consistent with Wizards of the Coast's contemporary token offerings.
