Provenance

Where it came from

The Elephant token, numbered 22 in the New Capenna Commander set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022 to accompany the Streets of New Capenna expansion. These tokens were designed to represent the specific creature types generated by card effects within the set's preconstructed commander decks, serving as physical placeholders for players during matches.

The artwork for this particular token follows the art deco-inspired, mobster aesthetic that defines the plane of New Capenna. Created to fit within the set's distinctive 1920s-infused fantasy environment, the illustration emphasizes the stylized, gritty urban tone sought by the art directors for this release, ensuring visual cohesion with the mechanical function of the token card.
